I am a solicitor, mediator, divorcee and co-parent. I set up Your Divorce Coach after going through my own challenging divorce. I realised that apart from a solicitor there was no one else out there with whom I could seek assistance to help me navigate one of the most difficult journeys of my life.
My greatest achievement has to be taking what nearly destroyed me and my family, turning it around, creating a business with it, and being in a very lucky position to be able to help others. In effect, my divorce is my superpower. I often find myself thanking the universe for having sent me the challenge of divorce as I ultimately then found my purpose. I literally thrive on being able to support others. I am so lucky to not only use my legal background to make the process calmer for my clients but my own personal experience and my soft skills as a mediator. All these factors mean I am able to be the bridge between the Client and the family/divorce law that they are facing or having to contend with.
“The Past has no power over the present moment”
What I love about my business is the feel good factor turning people’s fear and anxiety into manageable segments of their life whilst they navigate the divorce process. I am so grateful to be able to empower my clients to take control of their own experiences around divorce and watching them grow in confidence and start to rebuild their own lives.
The best advice i have ever received has to be “face the fear and jump anyway.’. `So many times in our lives we prevent our own success and development because of fear, because of the unknown. One aspect of my work is working with my clients to change their mindset about divorce to realise that actually this uncertainty and this unknown means that you are allowing ourselves to open up to the infinite possibility of opportunities. At the time of my Divorce, it never even crossed my mind that I would then be able to use what happened to me to empower others so that their experiences were not as traumatic as mine.
Covid 19 has certainly turned all of our lives upside down but in order to get through this, I think we need to see the silver lining in every situation. What positive has this disruption brought to my life? Personally, I am able to spend more time with my sons as they grow up. I have been able to spend more time on Your Divorce Coach and network virtually so much more than ever before. I have been able to reach out to more people who may need my help and i’ve met some amazing women supporting other women in business!
